The revelation came on the heels of previous allegations against Johnson. He was found to have accepted large donations from a pro-Israeli lobby to push in Congress for the approval of a hefty $14 billion aid package for Israel.

This is a bizarre justification for a police action in a nation where free expression is constitutionally protected. After all, there is nothing illegal about “radicalizing” students, who are not, in any case, children. Adams is openly confessing to violating the First Amendment. The phrase “professionals” was much used by Adams and his administration, as was the even more nakedly authoritarian “outside agitators.” Even as he talked of “outside agitators” on Tuesday, Adams acknowledged that the concept had a disreputable past. The “outside agitator” trope was much used by racists in the Jim Crow South as a way to demonize the civil rights movement. It is, as Columbia historian Mae Ngai noted, a “bogeyman narrative.” But the toxic history of the phrase didn’t stop Adams from using it.
When Adams tried to specify who the outside agitators were, he repeatedly botched the facts. As Nia Prater of New York notes:
Adams cited one woman, Nahla Al-Arian, whose husband he claimed was “convicted of terrorism.” But Al-Arian wasn’t on Columbia’s campus this week, and she told the AP that Adams had misstated her husband’s legal past. Another woman, Lisa Fithian, a longtime activist who has made appearances at Occupy Wall Street and many other protests, was seen instructing protesters on how to barricade a door outside Hamilton Hall the night it was first occupied. But Fithian, whom the NYPD describes as a “confirmed professional agitator,” told the New York Times that she wasn’t on campus Tuesday evening when the arrests were made.
Finally, there was the lie the Adams administration advanced about the terrorist bicycle chain. On Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner Tarik Sheppard was allowed to go on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to hold up a chain and claim, “This is not what students bring to school. This is what professionals bring to campuses and universities.” What Sheppard was holding up was a common chain bicycle lock. As The New York Times’ Eric Toler noted, “This bike lock is/was available for sale on campus via Columbia’s Public Safety department.”
The current crackdown is predicated on the idea that pro-Palestine protesters are violent and pose a unique threat to academic well-being. This is the core lie, and it is spread by both Adams and Biden. Did your article mention this professor, not affiliated with the college but as a protestor, was one of 100 arrested that day . Of the 100 arrested , 23 were students, 4 were employees and the rest including the professor were outside agitators. The person filming the event was his spouse , Sandra, who also was arrested. Those 23 students and 4 employees are now banned from the college. Sandra was filming her husband sticking the camera in to get good shots. Its unfortunate when the professor was confronted and attempts to take his camera away, the film portrayed the action of the professor to jerk away from the officers which appeared him to be resisting and he was gang tackled. Mind you the only version is from his wife filming and only showing one side . The one administrator in the kahki tan pants and blue shirt initially pointed out the professor which directed one officer to confront him.

"Our findings suggest that place-based economics policies that increase residents' access to local high-wage work opportunities can substantially expand opportunities for economic advancement for local residents," says Garin. "But the success of any proposed place-based intervention depends on the details."
In particular, the authors suggest, policymakers aiming to promote upward mobility should carefully consider whether an intervention will generate paths to higher-wage employment for the people already living in the target area. These goals may not always align with current priorities of the firms that policies aim to attract, and may be more difficult to sustain in the 21st century global economy than in the postwar era.
For these and other reasons, the authors suggest that it might be challenging for modern policy to replicate the impacts of plant construction on local upward mobility during World War II.

A timid health agenda that doesn’t call for bold action like national single payer, Medicare for All will keep voters home, away from the polls, where the Democrats need them.
Speaking to NBC News, the Chair of the CPC, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.), preferred to include in the agenda “things that were populist and possible… and affected a huge number of people.”
Nothing could be more populist or affect more people than single payer, Medicare for All. A majority of Democrats (54%) favor a single national government program to provide health insurance, including 57% of Democrats under 30 and even 43% of moderate to conservative Democrats. The only thing that makes it not “possible” is Congress, not the will of the people.

It includes both the racism in our society that makes Black people less healthy, the disparity in health coverage by race, and the biases held by healthcare workers against people of color in their care.

Black women are made less healthy by things such as increased levels of homelessness, or unsafe housing. Similarly, environmental racism means that Black people are much more likely to develop health conditions like asthma, due to the prevalence of high-polluting industries in and near Black neighborhoods.
In a cruel kind of vicious cycle, Black people also suffer from higher levels of stress and hypertension than their white counterparts, driven in part by the very racism they experience. Toxic stress caused by experiences of racism, overt or institutional, is a large part of the disparity in stress levels between whites and Blacks according to Dr. Michele Andrasik, psychologist and Senior Staff Scientist at Fred Hutch.
These health disparities are also part of the reason why people of color generally have higher mortality rates from COVID-19, as they are more likely to have a condition making COVID-19 more dangerous.

The document includes required reading lists to prepare for classes regarding topics like "The Sickness of Policing & Incarceration," "Anti-Settler Colonialism/Indigenous Health" and "Environmental Racism & Justice."
Among the materials for the "Disability Justice" session include an article by Marquisele Mercedes, titled "No Health, No Care: The Big Fat Loophole in the Hippocratic Oath," which says "fatphobia is medicine’s status quo."
"It is proven that weight loss is a useless, hopeless endeavor. You are unlikely to lose weight in any permanent way and highly likely to open yourself to the myriad risks associated with weight cycling. The relationship between weight and health is also muddy," the essay reads.
The essay also insisted that "the concept of ob*sity is used to exact violence on fat people, and fat activists regard it as a slur."
